Sisterhood Shabbat 600 x 200.png

On March 18, 1922, Judith Kaplan, the oldest daughter of Rabbi Mordecai Kaplan, the founder of Reconstructionist Judaism, became the first girl in the United States to be called to the Torah as a bat mitzvah.

On March 19, 2022, to mark the 100th anniversary of the first American bat mitzvah, Sha’are Shalom hosted a Sisterhood Shabbat.

Yasher koach and thank you to everyone who participated in and helped make our Sisterhood Shabbat so special. Click here to read Nancy Passow's wonderful D'var Torah.
