Our Mission

Congregation Sha'are Shalom (Gates of Peace) is a diverse, inclusive, and modern synagogue, blending tradition and change. We strive to provide our members with opportunities to engage with Judaism and enjoy a sense of community.

From families with school-aged children to empty nesters and retirees, interfaith families, same-sex families, young singles or couples just starting out, with backgrounds ranging from Orthodox to not raised Jewish, together we have built a vibrant congregation.

We welcome multi-faith families. Our community recognizes that this can be a complicated commitment, especially when raising children, and we encourage the non-Jewish partner's involvement  in the synagogue.

We also contribute to the communities that surround us, providing a variety of social, social action, educational and cultural programs that extend beyond our congregational membership.

New Security Procedures

For everyone's safety, the doors will be locked for most occasions and an access code will be required to enter the building.

For your convenience, we recommend CSS members contact our Executive Director, Laurie Mangold, at to set up a permanent code that can be used for accessing the building during services and events.

Non-members who wish to attend Shabbat services are asked to contact our Executive Director during the week prior to obtain a temporary access code for entry.

We host many events throughout the year including holiday parties, youth group events and Good Deeds Day.  Click on the events calendar to find out what it coming up!

We offer wonderful, engaging programs for all ages.  They include Training Wheels, RUJEC Pre-school, Religious School and adult education classes.  Please click the Education link for details.
