Our Executive Director

Laurie Mangold
Laurie is thrilled to be Congregation Sha’are Shalom’s first executive director. An active member of the congregation since it was known as Loudoun Jewish Congregation, Laurie's approach is to balance operational efficiency with fostering the same warm and welcoming community that inspired her to join in the 1990s.
Laurie has served in a variety of leadership roles at Sha’are Shalom, including membership, ritual and High Holiday committees, interfaith groups, and director-at-large on the board of directors. She has taught in the religious school and is a B'nai Mitzvah tutor. She has also provided music for the Rosie Uran Jewish Education Center, has led Tot Shabbat and family services, and is one of the lay cantors at Shabbat and holiday services.

In addition, Laurie brings to the position more than 20 years of executive marketing and management experience at global technology companies, as well as volunteer leadership at nonprofit organizations serving disadvantaged populations. Raised in New England, she graduated magna cum laude from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, with a concentration in Linguistics and Literary Translation (French and Spanish).

Laurie lives with her husband Jeff in Ashburn and enjoys spending time with their daughter Alyssa, son-in-law Matt, and granddaughter Carson.
